My Demons

Your judgement, I need not
as you gaze upon my face
you’ve never known my truth
or for what impact I brace

Burdens I have come to carry
are not for you to understand
you cannot comprehend
the heavy seas I manned

Seeing only weakness
from my scars of battle
although, I will assure you
I am not quick to rattle

Company not required
for me to venture on
strength in my resilience
long after you are gone

Walking alone with my demons
I have grown to know them well
I shall keep them locked
in cages where they dwell
