Breeze
Breeze
I laid at the bottom of your glass,
waited silently
watching curtains ruffle,
a stiff, dependable breeze.
The elephant stalks our conversations,
in and out of rooms,
a beast of loss that clops along,
this dark and unnerving sound.
Takes up half this house, it does,
shadows take the other,
shapeshifts into rush or reedbeds,
holds on
while you aren't here.
