Leaving This Old Life

I see him staring straight at me
I know my face it pleases he
I wish he knew or could understand
I am by birth bound to this land

His hair pulled back with leather
His beard looks soft as a feather
His eyes they sting inside my heart
For I know that we are worlds apart

If he truly feels the same
He'd hide his love from being shamed
I need to know if it's truly love
Sent from hell or from above

Today a rose was left for me
Hiden beneath my favorite tree
I feel in my heart its not hell sent
Down on one knee I pray he'd be bent

Surging with lightning my heart beats fast
For today at home will be my last
I'll ask him to take me far from here
Past oceans and vallies to lands so clear

I feel in my heart its what I'm to do
He's part of my future so pure so true
He's my angel sent from above
He'll bring me happiness and love

I'll never mary a duke, laird, or an earl
For title and status they only want in this world
To leave my family is only right
For with them theres no happiness in sight.
