dinner at the Sunny Boy diner
a legend
a small piece of
local history that
doesn't change
going on 57 years
of serving breakfast,
lunch and dinner
to the locals
the pace is slower
here
dine in
take out
no delivery
nuthin' fancy
it's like walking into a time
machine and coming out
the other side somewhere
in the 1960's
there are still small juke
boxes at each table in the
front section of booths
you can even sit at the
counter and order
the ceiling is low, the
lighting soft, and the
overhead music is
sweet and nostalgic:
"hey there Georgie
girl."
"soldier boy...oh
my little soldier
boy,"
"lighting
striking
again."
all the waitresses say
kind things and check
in to make sure you
your food is okay
there's even a glass
case as you walk in
to show what pies
are on tap tonight
if you looking for haut
cusine,
forget it
but if your looking
for a damn decent
square meal with no
flash at a great price
then you have come
to the right place
...so if you're ever in
the area (Bridgeport,
Oh) and you're hungry,
just stop and ask a
local for directions
they'll point the way
and if you're young
enough you will discover
what America used to
be
and if you're old enough
you will be grateful for a
small piece of Americana
that yet thrives and lives
lives right
here
at Sunny Boy
diner
sitting like a proud
lion of time guarding
the best of the past
alongside
National
Road
in Bridgeport,
Oh.
