One Life
I have one life.
I have one single existence and then I am done.
All my thoughts, even what I’ve written, will be forgotten.
All the love I’ve shared will one day be erased.
I like the idea of eternity in heaven or
coming back as a new creature. But, I don’t
have the gift of faith. I’m a single human being
that will soon cease to exist.
And so, as we begin this ancient dance of love,
understand the significance of my words
when I say, “Tonight is very special for me.”

I don't think anyone could be more honest than the person of zero faith.
Doesn.t wisdom demand that we question everything?
Thank you for pairing existential experience with love, for it is the existentialist who knows the real value of love.
Extinction awaits, therefore we must seize the day!

Do t be so sure about humanity and her extinction yet—that idea is in itself a "Faith," of ten cling to with a perverse satisfaction.
As are speculations as to any enhanced honesty within persons of "no faith," (itself {nofaith} being also a "Faith."
Same with existence viewed as solely redolent of existential experience. These things all fit the criteria of "A Faith."
Here is a beautiful song. For as many people as there are who find it moving, there are as many reasons for those movements. It is like stained glass. It only means what you wish it to mean, and though everything in this world, including historical dynamics, are continually overlapping, it only means what it means for yourself, to yourself. Meaning is vast and broad, and takes place differently for everybody.

Lol...oh I assure you that I am never permanently assured of anything...such is the curse of the critical mind...for faith carries imperfections like everything else. I only wish I had a dollar for every bomb vest terrorist motivated by his faith in afterlife perfection, and then bent towards hateful purposes in the here and now on his way out of the here and now.
I couldn't agree more about concepts in conflation. Due to the very immutability of physical laws, I am no fan of the absolute. It is the unmerciful and unyielding law which most witlessly begs to be undermined by love.
Don't think I'm cheering for extinction. It is not for me to rain on anybody's parade, it's just that my unicorn and Sasquatch sightings aren't as plentiful as they might be :)
Evidence is still sovereign at court.

I loved seeing this discussion. Wish we could all share a glass of wine and discuss poems...and philosophy.

When one comes to terms with the fact that there is nothing at the end of the rainbow, then one will start living in the here and now.
Excellent write,

Love is very important as is kindness, I agree! The strange thing is, one day, we will have no recollection of ever having lived at all, like a dream you can't remember, right? But I want to reassure you, Nizana, that your words will live on forever for all those souls willing to read them. Even the Earth will not go on forever, unlike Billy...he talks too much, lol. ;-)
