Graceful Passing

My grief exists on life's
fringes, seizing tattered
borders with careworn
fingers that weave colorful
waxed threads into a
delicate hand woven
reality

Memories derived from
broken stems whose backbone
 of denial strengthens what
 I choose to remember

I mourn the quiet times
that have escaped me
tearing my perception of you
into manageable pieces
easier to digest

Grant me again the
innumerable times you held
me  absorbing the warmth
of your skin into mine

Allow me to dedicate false memories of our love into
a legacy to cherish
Detach the truth from this
grief of mine so I can accept
your passing with grace
