Life On The Run

CHANNEL 26 NEWS
NEW ORLEANS. LOUISISANA

“We here at Channel 26 News have never reported anything of this nature. For those of you who are just tuning in.”

The news reporter looked down at a piece of paper in her hand, and then looked up. “

A Miss. Rajeen Nadia Whitlow, arrested for the serial crimes that date back three years in New Orleans, and possible facing more criminal charges in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Mississippi, has escaped.”

The news reporter glanced down at a cue card in her hand.

This updated news report gets complicated as it comes in. It has been confirmed that two armed U.S. Marshals escorting the suspect to the proper authorities, was shot and killed at the scene. Several witnesses’ confessions, states two unidentified armed men ambushed the van, and was engaged in a gun battle with both U.S. Marshals, who as reported earlier, were eventually killed in the line of duty. Within this gun battle on a bustling highway, there were two addition fatalities, and a host of injuries to travelers trying to run for cover. As we report this, the suspect still remains at large, and, if you can believe this, unarmed, but considered extremely dangerous. If you see this suspect, please contact your local Police Department.”

The News Station showed a picture of Nadia’s mugshot on television.

“Thurgood, alert the television station I will hold a press conference in an hour.”

Sterling walked back over to his chair and took a seat. He closed his eyes, and took a deep breath.

“Miss. Wesley, I need you in my office in about an hour. I need you to get Chief Hansin, on my line as well.”

“Yes sir.”

Thurgood’s secretary pushed in the television power button.

The television screen went blank.

Thurgood walked back to his desk and took a seat.

“Are you sure about this Sterling?”

“I have never been surer of anything in my life, fuck yeah, I’m sure.”

BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA

“Boss, I’m sorry.”

“Yeah, me to PJ. Had I let Nadia investigate her story, maybe she wouldn’t have gotten involved in Ragan’s twisted shit.”

Sammie hung up the telephone.

“Mr. Huntington, I spoke with someone in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. I left a telephone number with the secretary of a Chief Downey. He will call me back once he returns to his office.”

“PJ, I want every available man on the street trying to locate Nadia, before the law catches up with her.”

“You got it boss.”

PJ rose and walked out Jonathon’s study.

“Sammie, what are the chances the charges will be dropped against Nadia.”

“High as hell.”

“Man, I’m holding you to your word.”

TIMBERLANE, LOUISIANA

Nadia stopped near a lake. She sat down on a soft patch of grass near the edge, untied her shoes, and removed both. She looked down at her clothes, and then looked around. She realized she was miles away from any form of civilization. She rubbed her sore feet, and then dipped them inside the cool water.

“Yes.” She waddled her feet in the water. “Damn, this shit isn’t fair. I’m fucking innocent.”

Nadia lifted her legs, and then rubbed her feet again. She slid her feet back inside her white tennis shoes, and tied them. She heard a dog barking in the distance background. She stood and ran through a maze of green forestry.

Nadia stopped every now and then to catch her breath. She looked up.

A helicopter circled the sky.

She stooped down and ran near a tree. She crouched behind a huge tree bark.

The woof of a dog was getting closer. Maybe if they catch her, she can explain she had no other choice, but to flee.

A dog ran up to Nadia and begin barking.

“Get away, go away boy,” Nadia whispered.

The dog continued to bark.

Someone whistled.

The dog turned his head at the whistle, and then turned back to Nadia and continued to bark.

Nadia heard fallen branches being crushed under the person’s approaching footsteps. She moved closer to the tree and covered her head.

“What is it boy…”

The stranger looked down at Nadia.

“Well, what do we have here?”

The man squatted on bent knees.

Nadia lifted her head.

A pair of intense dark-brown eyes captured her grayish-colored eyes.

Moss looked down at the woman, whose clothes were drenched in blood.

“Are you the dangerous woman the police are looking for?”

Nadia sat up and smoothed her hair back.

“No, I..., I have a RV a few miles back, and it stopped on me. I…uuh I… I had to walk in order to find gas.”

Moss took in the inviting seductive grayish-colored eyes, full lips, and a smooth skin tone complexion decorated with smudges of grit and dirt.

“Then you will not mind if I call the police, maybe they can give you a ride back to your RV.”

Moss removed his cell phone from out his jacket side pocket.

Nadia covered Moss’ hand.

“Please don’t call the police, I’ve done nothing wrong.”

“So, you are the woman the authorities are looking for?”

Nadia held her head down.

Moss tilted Nadia’s chin up.

“Are you?”

“Uhh...yes,” Nadia faintly answered. “But, I swear to you, on my adoptive mother’s gravesite, that I did not commit any of the crimes I’m being accused of.”

Moss palmed his chin.

“You know there’s a seventy-five thousand dollar award on your head?”

Nadia dropped her head.

“I’ll understand if you want to turn me in.”

Moss tilted Nadia’s chin to look into her eyes.

“And, if I don’t. What do you suppose I do with you?”

Moss rubbed over Nadia’s cheek.

Her skin was soft, he thought.

“I’m not that kind of woman, who exchanges her body for…for...”

“Freedom.”

Moss stood. He flipped his cell phone up.

Nadia stood.

“Okay, what do you ask of me.”

Moss looked at Nadia from head-to-toe.

Nadia straightened her dress.

Moss flipped his cell phone close and dropped it inside his jacket side pocket.

“Can you cook rabbit stew?”

“Excuse me, rabbit stew?”

“Yes.”

“No, but I can learn.”

“Are you hungry?”

“I’m starving.”

“You can follow me. And if you try to bash me in my head, or, what other ways are you accused of killing men. Oh, stab me; you may want to think about it. Rock is very protective of his master, and he has not dined on the flesh of a human in a very long time.”

Nadia looked at the back of the stranger’s stature. He was very tall, and extremely handsome.

The dark beard that overshadowed the lower part of his jaw, was professionally trimmed. His deep-set brown-eyes, were piercing, intense, and brooding when it came to gazing into them. His skin tone complexion was of a brownish-colored toffee, and unified a broad nose, and thin lips. His upper torso was imperious when it came to a muscular chest wall, but contoured to precision no doubt. The black Stetson on his head concealed his hair. Moreover, what was he doing out here in the wilderness, and alone?

“Do you live out here?”

“Occasionally.”

Rock walked several feet ahead of the two.

“Did you really kill all of those men?”

“No, it’s a case of mistaken identity.”

“Can you walk beside me, I have trust issues.”

“Isn’t it a little too late for that.”

Nadia fell in line with the stranger’s footsteps.

Moss stopped in front of a two-story log cabin. He turned to face Nadia.

“Remember, if you try anything with me, my dog will maul your skin, and then I would break your neck.”

He walked away from her and mounted three steps to his log cabin.

Nadia walked up to Moss’ log cabin, and joined him at the door.

Moss lifted the key from out his back pants pocket and then inserted the key inside the lock; he twisted it and opened the door.

“After you... Rajeen isn’t it.”

“Please call me Nadia.”

“After you Nadia.”

Nadia crossed the threshold. She was impressed.

The stranger’s log cabin was clean, except for several magazines that ruled the couch cushions.

Rock walked in and ran to a bowl near a side door.

Moss placed his key back inside his back pants pocket. He closed the door, took off his jacket, and hung it on a coat rack.

Nadia turned around.

The man’s lumberjack shirt was half-unbuttoned. She took note of the black hairs that lined his upper chest wall. Her eyes traveled lower.

The hard bulge in his black khaki pants welcomed her eyes, and increased her awareness of the man who invited her into his residence. She wondered did he know he had a hard-on.

Wow she thought.

“It’s a gift.”

Nadia lifted her head; her eyes somehow found the time to travel lower once again. She lifted her head again.

“Excuse me.”

“I said it’s a gift.”

“I was not….”

“This log cabin was a gift to me.”

He winked at her.

“Oh yes..., log cabin. It’s very huge.”

Moss looked down at the front of his pants.

“It tends to get very busy in the company of a very beautiful woman.”

Nadia walked around Moss’ log cabin. She admired the artisanship of the interior design.

“I have never been inside a log cabin before, this is very lovely.”

“Thank you. Would you like to go and take a shower?”

“Most definitely, by the way, what’s your name?”

“Moss.”

“Nice to meet you Moss. I will be down in a minute. Oh, where is your bathroom located?”

“There are two bedrooms up there with an attached bathroom. You can use either.”

“I will thank you.”

Nadia moved to the stairs and ascended them.

HOTEL ST. MARIE
NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA

Ragan paced her hotel room. She repeatedly beat her head with the base of her palms.

“Why do you always fuck up everything?”

Kill Kill.”

The voice in her head was getting stronger.

“No, leave me alone.” Ragan beat her head again. “You can’t make me kill anymore,” she screamed out.

She ran over to the bed, grabbed her purse, and opened it. She dumped the contents out on the carpet and threw the purse on the nightstand. She dropped down to her knees, and lifted a razor blade. She rested her back against the bedrail.

“I will kill myself,” Ragan screamed out.

Kill.”

“No.”

Ragan repeatedly nicked her wrist. She looked down and watched the blood spill out the thin welts.

Kill Kill.”

She sliced a thin welt across her other wrist.

The sensation of the blood oozing from the lacerations gave her instant sexual gratification.

Ragan lifted her dress and moved her panties aside. She inserted her finger inside the walls of her pussy and masturbated.

“Ummmm.” Her finger swam deeper into the wetness of her vaginal passageway. “Oooooh.”

Ragan licked her lips and manipulated her finger faster. She sucked on the blood that over-spilled one of her welts. She arched her back against the bedrail as her body spasm, producing a powerful climax.

“Uhh.” She massaged a breast. “Oh...”

Her orgasm left her emotional curious. She suckled on her wrist as her vaginal juices slid down her finger. Her head rolled toward the ceiling, she jabbed her finger inside herself harder. “Mmm...” Her body spasm again.

Ragan slowly withdrew her finger from out her pussy. She looked down at her wrists; she has not cut herself in a very long time. She wrapped her arms around herself and rocked back and forth.

Ragan looked around her hotel room. It’s time for her to return to Las Vegas. Now that the woman who is impersonating her, has been apprehended, there is no impediment to veil her presence from society.

Ragan stood and ran into the bathroom. She turned on the cold-water faucet knob and placed both wrists under the water.

“Shit.”

The thin lacerations began to sting. She turned off the water faucet knob.

Ragan grabbed a towel from off the towel bar and wrapped it around one of her wrists; she grabbed another towel from off the bar and wrapped it around the other wrist. She exited the bathroom, walked over to the bed, and sat down on it; she laid back and clutched the pillow closer to her head. She drifted off to sleep

AUGUSTA POINT ESTATE
BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA

Jonathon, PJ, and Sammie sat at the kitchen table and listened to the latest news report on Nadia.

“Sammie, this shit has gotten out of hand. I have a fucking woman, who I happen to care for out there on the run for her life, all because some other crazy bitch who looks like her, most likely framed her.”

“Calm down boss, I’m sure Sammie is working every angle to find Nadia, or trying to get her to turn herself in.”

“For what PJ, hum? So the state of Louisiana can throw her ass back behind bars, until Ragan gets bored and decides to turn herself in.”

“Mr. Huntington, one thing I know about Nadia is, she can take care of herself. Anytime you can elude the law, and any of their sniffing canines, you are ace in my book.”

Jonathon stood.

“I want Nadia found, excuse me for saying, dammit, dead or alive.”

“Dead boss.”

“Yes, then I know she won’t be lying in some other mothafucka’s bed. If alive, then I know she will be lying in mine.”

PJ and Sammie looked at each other.

“Sammie, have you heard anything back from the newspaper where Nadia is employed?”

“Not as of yet. In my professional opinion, I think everyone is trying to figure out a way to broadcast the tapes, without any ramifications, or any lawsuits.”

“Increase the pressure. And I have been meaning to ask you, who was the man who appeared alongside Dr. Brooks.”

“I didn’t recognize him Mr. Huntington.”

“Hum, for someone to come down here from Las Vegas to help solve a murder case. One, you have to have some form of evidence, or two, it’s personal. Dammit! Sammie, find me some information, and dammit, find me Nadia!”

Jonathon stormed out the kitchen.

“You know he’s going to be impossible do deal with, until Nadia is found.”

“For all the whores available, you would think the man can fucking choose one.”

“I do not think it’s about any woman’s pussy, but the right woman’s pussy.”

“Nadia, Rajeen, whatever you want to call her, is one sexy looking woman.”

“And her breasts are perfect to the eyes.”

“And the ass.”

Sammie and PJ laughed.

MOSS’ LOG CABIN
TIMBERLANE, LOUISIANA

Nadia stepped out her tennis shoes, and then removed her sullen dress; she placed the soiled item over the towel bar. She looked around the small, but intimate bathroom. She walked over to the claw foot bathtub, bent over, and turned on the two water faucet knobs. She leaned over and grabbed an Orrefors Crystal Decanter of Jasmine scented bath oil from off the embedded vanity. She lifted the top and took a whiff.

“Pleasant.”

Nadia looked around. She sensed a woman once walked the linoleum floor of the cozy bathroom. She inserted the stopper into the drainer, and then poured a small amount of the scented oil into the water.

Nadia plugged the top back into the Decanter, and placed it back on the wall vanity.

Moss walked up the steps, and hurried to his bedroom. He walked over to his dresser and slid a drawer out. He removed a Raven football jersey and a pair of white cotton socks. He closed the drawer back with a shove of his outer upper thigh. He exited his bedroom and walked in the direction of his spare bedroom. Moss took a deep breath and knocked on the door. He knocked again. He twisted the doorknob and peeped his head around the corner.

“Nadia, I...”

Moss heard Nadia singing in the bathroom. He crept over to the slightly ajar door and extended his head around the post. Moss got a glimpse of Nadia’s posterior view from behind. He looked at the curly hair strands that rested just below her shoulder blades, which partially concealed a smooth collarbone. His eyes slowly traveled down her bare back. He inhaled as his eyes raked over her perfect rounded derrière.

"Sweet mercy," Moss uttered under his breath.

Nadia quickly turned around.

Moss had a great amount of time to canvass Nadia’s flat abdomen, ample sized breasts, curvaceous hips, and the blackish fine hairs that introduced her pussy.

“Is anyone out there?”

Nadia grabbed a fluffy towel from off the towel bar, obscured her nudity, and walked to the door. She pulled the door open wider.

“I…, I was coming to give you these. Seeing that your clothes may need a good washing.”

Nadia looked down at the clothing items in Moss’ hands.

“Thank you.”

Nadia held the towel with one hand. She removed the clothing items from out Moss’ hand with the other. She looked into his eyes. She noticed his facial expression remained guarded.

“Dinner will be ready in a sec.”

“And I thought you wanted to taste, my rabbit stew.”

Nadia smiled.

Moss moved one of Nadia’s curls aside. His finger slid down her cheek.

“Are you sure I can trust you, when I turn my back.”

“If you’re asking if I ever hurt anyone, then the answer to your question is, no. Why?”

“I would not want to be the man held responsible for succumbing to the word of a very attractive woman.”

Nadia blushed.

“Thank you and you will not.”

Moss looked down at Nadia’s shoulder blade.

“Your skin is...”

“Is...”

Moss rubbed over one of Nadia’s shoulder blades.

Nadia looked down at Moss’ hand caressing her shoulder blade, and then down the length of her arm. She looked up. Her eyes met his.

“Soft.”

Nadia looked down at the front of Moss’ pants. She wondered did his dick ever return to a flaccid state.

“I... Maybe I should get...my bath water.”

Nadia turned around and walked over to the bathtub. She dropped the clothing on a wicker hamper and leaned over to turn off the water knobs.

“I would be down, in say ten minutes.”

Nadia turned around.

Moss was gone.

She walked to the door and stuck her head out. She heard Moss’ footsteps squeaking on the steps. She shrugged her shoulders and closed the bathroom door.

Nadia walked over to the bathtub. She opened the towel and let it drop to the floor. She stepped one foot over the rim of the tub, and then the other. She submerged her body in the water.

“Oh God yes.”

The warm water liberated her tired muscles.

Nadia leaned her head back against the base of the tub and rested her eyes.

Moss paced the kitchen floor. He looked at the door. Why did he invite a stranger in his home, a beautiful stranger at that? He looked down at his involuntary hard-on. He damned himself for the unfortunate passing of his wife. Sexual depravity was every man’s worst nightmare.

Moss walked to the stove, and lifted the lid. He lifted a spoon from off a trivet and stirred the rabbit stew. He placed the spoon back on the trivet and replaced the lid.

“Rock, the woman is hot. Too bad, my heart and my mind still remains with my wife.”

Rock barked.

Moss walked out the kitchen. He crossed the room and mounted two steps. He walked over to his computer workstation and took a seat. He logged on his computer, and then surfed the internet for any updated news flashes on the whereabouts of Nadia.

“Hum, what’s this?”

Moss pointed the computer’s arrow over a news report video; he clicked the play button with his mouse.

CNN NEWS

“So, what you are saying Dr. Brooks and Dr. Ambrose is, the so called Las Vegas Slasher may still be at large.”

Sterling stepped up to the podium.

“Yes, there is mounting evidence that points this investigation in a new direction. The DNA, crime scene photographs, and several witnesses’ statements does not pin the slayings on the person who the FBI has lodged a manhunt for.”

“Dr. Brooks why wasn’t this evidence brought to the media’s attention. Prior to the New Orleans Police Department naming this woman.”

Sterling stepped back. Thurgood walked up to the podium.

“It’s safe to say that this is a complex investigation. In our findings, we are for certain that, yes the DNA points to this woman, however it’s not the same woman who has committed these crimes.”

“So what are you trying to tell the American people?”

Thurgood stepped back. Sterling stepped up to the microphone again.

“There are two women who share the same DNA traits; however, they are differentiated by fingerprints, which are very much similar in comparison.”

“Dr. Ambrose, are you suggesting that twins may have committed these murders.”

“I am not saying a thing. The DNA, evidence, and our joint investigation into these brutal murders, tell us that one of these women committed these murders.”

The media went into a state of frenzy. The news reporter turned toward the viewing population.

“That was Dr. Thurgood Brooks of New Orleans Forensic Center, and Dr. Sterling Ambrose of the Clark County Nevada Coroner’s Office, giving a live press conference on the steps of New Orleans Forensic Center to alleviate concerns in regard to the murders of this bizarre case, and the potential suspect in custody, well, who was once in custody.”

Moss looked toward the staircase.

“Thank you, God. At least I will not have to watch my back.”

“Well, I finally met a man, who not only talks to himself, but answers himself back.”

Moss looked up. He took a deep breath. The woman was simply beautiful. Standing in his football jersey, and his white pair of socks. He got a flashback of his late wife.

“There has been an update report concerning your case.”

“I’m sorry, case.”

“Yes, it appears there may be two of you.”

“Yes, something I’ve been trying to tell anyone who listens.”

“I’m listening.”

Nadia found Moss’ curious dark-brown eyes.

“I have evidence that could free me; however, I have to get the information to the right people.”

“What kind of information?”

“I suppose you have all night for me to explain.”

“Do you have somewhere to be anytime soon?”

Nadia bit down on her lip.

Moss’ eyes followed the movement.

The woman was simply, sexy, gorgeous, and beautiful all rolled into one he thought. Her smokey-colored eyes were so seductive he thought.

“Hey, isn’t it about time I taste this rabbit stew. You may meet me in the kitchen.”

Nadia turned and walked away.

Moss stood and followed Nadia into the kitchen.
