Can't Sleep
Fiendish dreams disturb my peace
I don't feel fear, but still can't sleep
Shadows moving, trying to steal my breath
Men turning into monsters consuming flesh
All night long I sleep then wake
Oddly, without fear, too much at stake
Nightmares live in shadows, corners of the mind
I live in real life facing another day to grind
What lives in the dark is alive in the light
I am not afraid of day; I will not be of night.
I'll try again, to find peace in sleep
I'll ask the Lord my soul to keep
There is still something soothing about the night
The low hissing of radiator pipes.
Fiendish dreams, I am not mad
You have your job, to disturb what is buried
I have mine to, it requires a clear head
Let me get some sleep, go bother the dead.
