My Friend
I've got this friend...
not just any friend, a very special friend.
Was the first friend I ever had
and will certainly be the last.
You are all more than acquainted.
Some of you fear, some love,
some of you don't appreciate
my friend.
An extremely peculiar and most
unpredictable relationship.
As a small child I remember
she allowed a rhinoceros to charge
through my house destroying everything,
while I hid in a cupboard.
She'd float me down the stairs sometimes,
and forced me to watch myself die.
She would dig old bones from
forgotten memories and
parade them in front of me,
then sometimes she'd
refresh my spirit and dress me up in smiles.
Some have said she's the cousin of death,
my friend.
That cannot be with such life and
healing strength.
No, I believe her to be
the twin of night and the widow of a stretch.
We'll all be seeing her later
I suppose
