Last Kiss Upon My Breast
When death wraps her dark cloak around my shoulders,
I pray she’ll pause and admire how frantic we are to
leave one more act of love on this temporal stage.
I hope she'll whisper introductions in my ear and
wait for my sigh of acceptance before
stopping my heart mid-sentence.
And to my lover, when you see that I have left,
may we remain joined until you feel the
final chill of my ceasing? Plant a last kiss upon
my breast as the hum of unseen cables close
the curtains around what was once my life.
