Baby Teeth
Mother likes to collect things, mementos that remind her of us. When I visit her, I always bring something with me from her grand kids. She does not get to do much, so she really enjoys opening little packages to see what I brought her. When my brother and I were younger, she kept everything of ours. She kept our first shoes, our first blankets, our first diapers, the hair from our first haircuts. As we got older, she collected our baby teeth when they fell out. She would get very excited when a tooth got loose and she would have a new memento to collect. She would put the new tooth in a baggie and save it with the rest of our teeth, and hair, and finger nails. Those teeth never hurt. It felt weird, but not like a lot of pain when they fell out. But when mother took our second baby teeth, that hurt a lot.
