Another Goodbye

“Another Goodbye”

My heart is insane—
All aflutter and stained.
I see you through a lens of blindness
Coupled with some futures and other pasts.
It’s a sigh I’ve choked on for years in my hands.

Did you hear the specters crying?
There are no corners left to haunt.
But how magically they speak through us
As we hide from the light—it invades our slumber.
The night is over, and its time for you to go again…
It is time for another goodbye.

Display tomorrow on a screen—
You don’t know what I’m dreaming.
I’m sorry your face never appears
Unless I waken where you have gone.
There are sorrows greater than tears
Shed like rays on my dissection—
This is the theater of the undertaker.

I longed to give you what you wanted,
Ere repentance finds me in the ossuary:
Regrets taken unless you are beside me—
But in that slumber will I see you
As I never dreamed of you before?
Will I see you—eyes closed forever
For the first time, when we say goodbye?
