Alone, I travel by night,
The moon guides the way,
As I stumble into this forest,
My path intensifies, I wander astray
Globes of yellow, hiding beneath the brush,
Behind greens of hunger and browns of rage,
Creeping up closer, predators and prey,
Outnumbered, yet no fear perceived
Sense awakening, I close my eyes,
Feel the tropical air moisturize my skin,
I let it in, I let it in, I let it in
Here, I am predator. I know the way
of the Kingdom. Yet through the eyes of
dominance and higharchy, I'm seen as prey
Flashback, halt, I see my previous fault
A denial, I questioned their faith, I knew
their fate, their religion to which I hate
A disagreement packaged me into a tight
wagon, sealed with whips and screams from
little children, I escaped into the brush
Freedom
Running
The moon begins to pulsate as I continue my venture
Motions and vibrations of serpents making
themselves aware as I pass, they fear me,
as I have power to make them dance and beg
Run, run, running
Sweat, sweat, sweating
Inhale, exhale, breathing
Yelp, yelp, yelping
Free, free,
Freedom
I'm flying with eyes closed
Batting these loose wings
Ambition, I feel determination
with no destination
Chanting songs of ancestry,
the spirit of the breeze wraps around me
Like a dense fog of protection,
Granting me the sight of the night
I see rabid beasts scurry,
I carry the Light
A welcome trance approaches,
Holds its ground on this chaotic ground,
And, still running, we collide
This trance and I
Closed eyes, I can feel the image of my sisters
and brothers laughing,
I can feel the image of my children playing
with Hantaywee, protector
I stop moving these legs,
I let the Light return to the breeze,
I open my eyes, and I breath
Now I can return to the land of my birth,
Carrying this cape of predation,
I will protect as I am the Light
My people are free,
I am at peace,
I am Aponi
The moon guides the way,

My path intensifies, I wander astray
