Silence
Silence
the crashing silence
of a falling tree
when no one's there to hear
the weeping silence
of a loved ones last breath
the holy silence
within our prayers
the anticipating silence
before a first kiss
the pins and needles silence
of basketball's flight at the buzzer
can you hear sounds of silence
cover your ears and listen
open your soul and hear
Without silence
dividing notes of music
music would just be noise
We think silence
is the pause within music
but what if
the notes of music
are the pauses within silence

The picture is absolutely perfect, it fits so amazingly to the words.
I feel like I never hear the silence anymore.
There is just so much noise and in silence it only gets louder.
These things you outline showing the beauty of getting back to silence.
Resetting the noise and allowing you to truly hear the music.
I love music and I am not sure what I would do without it.
I lose myself in it at the gym and other places as well.
Without it everything would be like nails on a chalkboard.
Just telling me of all the things I have to do, the difficuly of life.
I am not sure I know the sounds of silence anymore for a long time.
But I really want to again, I hope I can...
The last stanza really makes you think and appreciate the silence.

What do you hear before a kiss? before your lover's whip strikes? before the first sip of coffee? These gifts of silence are always there. I changed the poem slightly after reading this reply, I knew I'd omitted something important and so added it. I sometimes listen to the noise with one ear and the silence with the other ear. I think you can hear the silence between the moans as those silences are so loud.

I live 2 blocks away from a major hospital construction project.
When they quit for the day, a beautiful calm restores the magic of silence..

I once had an out of body experience listening to silence and I've been listening for that silence ever since. I've heard so many different silences but I have never that first silence ever again. I will probably listen for it until the day I die, maybe I'll hear it then. Thank you.

It occurs to me that thinking of silence as a positive force instead of an absence of force subtlety changes our perceptions of the world. Mi deepest thanks for your thoughts. I Like like your particular silence, the one right before sleep.
