The Lonely Guardian
Have you been fooled by fate one last time
Has your innocence lost its purity and shine
Has your mind gone blank and clocks lost the time
You pray for the years to pause while I wish for a rewind
Sit yourself down at my table; I have enough hope for a feast
When the rope seems its longest, and the blade is sharpest
When the pills create a numbing ocean and the gun whispers
“Come to me, my child, Let me twist your tongue into a false answer”
When the light flickers one last time, I will be the voice to guide you home
I will be the dirt on your path and the lonely guardian who always roams
Has your hourglass broken and the sand chokes your throat
Has the wolf stolen your sheep and misguided you in the forest
Where the air is stale and destiny is the mysterious noise in your ears
Have your stars forgotten your years, Your moon found another sun
Drink from my cup; I have enough faith for a nation
When the love fails, When words seem hollow
When death is close, When the bottle wallows
I will rise above the dark sea and the night sky
And teach you to fly without wings
When the rope seems its longest, and the blade is sharpest
When the pills create a numbing ocean and the gun whispers
“Come to me, my child, Let me twist your tongue into a false answer”
When the light flickers one last time, I will be the voice to guide you home
I will be the dirt on your path and the lonely guardian who always roams
Has your innocence lost its purity and shine
Has your mind gone blank and clocks lost the time
You pray for the years to pause while I wish for a rewind
Sit yourself down at my table; I have enough hope for a feast
