Somethings, Nothings and Dwellings
Persephone’s Daughters (paean to celibacy)
The grave spinsters
Stripped fertility from oaken hulk,
Seduced sailors in frothing chambers
Until they were spent on barren rocks.
Men Linger too Long in Caves
Into theatre of lights and
Curiosity we are delivered,
From amniotic warmth
To cold palm prints of fate.
Last of the Moon Dancers
Did you send me the moon tonight
Dancing from your floor, over oceans -
Waxen vessels of desires waiting to sink -
Strobing orbs of my heart’s discotheque.
Welsh skies were cloud thick,
Another minute’s silence
Dug deep into the valleys.
Moon’s shoulders slumped
Into luminescent caverns,
On far, far away lands.
Watching Sade Walk Past the Office Window
Crisply ironed navy tie (noosed a cranking neck)
Slipped erect into Thames-coloured coffee.
Pouting lips, red raw from cracked mouth fantasies,
Stretched my electronic cables to recording studios
Strangers on my phone to Top of the Pops.
Denim-clad chanteuse
Strolled as if from film set
Onto pigeon shit pavement.
Then, she was gone.

Stripped fertility from oaken hulk,
Seduced sailors in frothing chambers
Until they were spent on barren rocks.
