It's hard        
so very hard these days          
every single day I work my ass off            
trying not to be an ass          
          
I bite my tongue          
holding back words          
hoping my thoughts are never heard          
hiding the anger in my heart          
passing off insults like they're fine art          
          
this is not the way          
to make the world pay          
anger breeding more anger          
jealousy, envy, and greed          
          
I want to be noticed          
I want to be loved          
I want...        
purpose in this mess        
to find meaning in my distress        
        
it's so ugly playing these games          
yet we all fight just the same        
knowing there's no one else to blame          
so our spirits are razed          
and never praised          
            
but I know you feel it too          
that life is askew          
it is so easy to forget          
we've all made the same bet          
that life has no guarantees        
          
so please forgive me          
as I forgive you          
we're all in this together          
and living is not worth living
