Storage wars

They loved to bid on storage units:
People gather round, the person in charge opens the door
They all look, not allowed to touch anything.
Oftentimes the lot turned out to be crap
But once, Rosie and Jim hit the jackpot,
Outbidding the other regulars
Ending up with japanese watercolors worth a small fortune.

The present unit contained....not much.
A vintage bike, a delicate Baroque desk (imitation?)
A Tiffany lamp
But what fascinated Rosie were the two trunks
Of the type that a person might have carried on the Titanic.
Collectible items in high demand in her circle.
Jim was not enthused, did not wish to bid.
She did.
And won.

They packed their treasures at the back of the van
Drove to their warehouse where the suitcases were laid on the floor.
Hoping for a jackpot, Rosie stood anxiously by
As Jim picked the lock of the first suitcase.
Not much to be found in there, sadly.
Mainly high-end women clothes.

Still hoping for THAT treasure, always the goal of the exercise,
She stood near her husband as he picked the other lock
Opened the lid
And as Rosie saw the two dead babies
She fainted.
