What Links Heaven to the Earth?

It has been said
that Man’s the link between
the earth and all the realms above

Why then
does Genesis proclaim
that Man’s attempt to bridge the spacious gap
rhat God had set in his creation days
betwixt
the reaches of the settled firmament
and all the water separated land
that wingless creatures
dwell upon
resulted in the curse
upon the denizens of humankind  
that cost them then
the glad ability
to understand each others speech
to find a stable home,
and fast ensured their towering
presumptuous ascents
intended as the means
to grasp divinity
would be perpetually
laid waste?

Is it not so that what
the Bible says about
just what it is that links the sky
to bodied Man’s abode
is always grounded in
Ha Shem’s and his appointed messengers’
descents?
