Sleep
Sleep is but a gentle nudging
Of the brain
A peaceful journey into darkness
Life's steady refrain
A quieting of the mind
For which it's absence
Makes for a certain somberness
That can not be easily relieved

Hoi hoi
Ahhhh…., talking about sleep! What I think?
Don’t take my word for it’; it may work or not work for you.
The brain is a chemicals-regulated thing.
It gets used to the right stimulus at the right time. That’s why I write at the same time and preferably every day.
This goes for sleeping as well.
Maybe try to go to bed everyday at the same time for a couple of months.
Delaying going to bed, hoping you’ll be more tired doesn’t do it.
Try it for some time if you haven’t already, and see what it can bring to you with some patience.
And please read something about it. I experienced it first, and read about it later. Maybe the other way around works easier for you. This morphing business is almost abstract.
I start getting very very nice responses to your lyrics here in Greater Amsterdam.
What a way to begin other ways of cooperation, huh?
Do I like this poem? Yes, of course.
Kind regards, Gus

Re: Re. Sleep
Hello, Gus!
I'm awake and up again a few short hours after having written this. Yes, I do go to bed around the same time every night. It doesn't seem to matter. I'm still lying in bed tossing and turning a few hours later. I don't mind it when I end up writing something good though.
As for the response you are receiving on my song lyrics where you are, I am nothing less than thrilled. I'm so happy that our paths have crossed on here so that we could produce some wonderful recordings. You are quite the musician and what has come about as you have proven to me is quite magical. I'm so proud of our accomplishments. Your wonderful music really compliments what Poetry I have written. You're the greatest, Gus! You are clearly the best musician that I know. I am greatly thankful for all of your work .

Well penned! There is so much truth here.
I can definitely relate.
I was recently diagnosed with narcolepsy. Along with sudden sleep attacks and excessive daytime sleepiness, is a little known fact…narcoleptics have severe difficulty sleeping at night.
I also have sleep apnea and sleep paralysis, sleep conditions most often associated with narcolepsy. Have you had a sleep study to check for apnea??
I hope you can get your sleep regulated so that you get more, it’s so crucial to our well-being.

I have always been a goddess of the night. It never really bothered me that I couldn't sleep. But seriously, the problem arose from trying to make sure that I personally got at least seven hours of sleep per night. I was not tested but did reveal to my doctor having this to which she showed little or no concern. Go figure, huh?

Love my bed. A lot of writing goes down there cause
I'm a dreamer:)
Shutting it off can sometimes be a challenge. It's gotten easier
lately. Love the line about the gentle nudging of the brain.
So true!!

Thank you so much for your wonderful remarks. You probably guessed I'm a dreamer, too!I would never want to change it though! One of my favorite sayings is, "If you're going to dream, dream big!" I'm not sure where I got that from but I have believed it for over forty years. Have a great weekend, my friend!
