Shackles and Chains

Signing up, excitement, nerves
Challenging fear head on
Taking a chance, taking a first step
Taking on, moving forward

Rehearsals, lines
“Scared but this can be done” she thought
Days turned to weeks
Nervous towards the opening night
Waking up "No I will have to pull out"
Living always to please, to fit in, to shut yourself off
Her mind, telling her to…
Stay safe
Stay in line
Follow don't make waves

Opening night, packed house
Walking with nerves, anxiety, fear
“I can't do this" she thought

Curtain dropped and the cast all stood
Show was just about to start
All their robes were dropped
Naked they faced the crowd
A feeling of freedom took her over
Fear had now dropped away
No more shackles and chains
No more being afraid to…

     Live
            Laugh
                  Love

Free to move on, a journey finally started
To start, to be reborn again
