Kaldi

My goats
would feast on berries red
that made them sing and dance
so I fetched some to the monastery
of their holies to enquire
They said it spawned temptation
shrugged and shook their heads
then cast them on the fire
But wooed by blessed aroma
oblivious to scorn
I boiled some in a pot
to brew up cups of courage
all dark and piping hot
My quaff that warms
the cruelest winter's chill
doth truly banish flagging hearts
so each of you enjoy
from that day hence and still
our darling coffee as you will
even as it saddens me to say
though my beans live
long in memory
my name's almost
forgot
