Syllables of a Broken Heart
You were
my tree,
green god
so free
As I loved you
So warm, and mine
Your beauty shocked-
loving and kind
But I was not the man you thought
A wretch, so broken and upset
Your love for me, I fear unfound
Does this path hold only doubt?
And
here
I
am
alone-
when
words
can
never
soothe
My thoughts of you,
now lost.
This single, stinging
truth:
To unbecome,
our past and-
strife
to forget
such pains
of youth
there is no fades
nor loss
To be straddled
in, this booth.
