Ordinance

There was no hint of breeze when the moon arose
And mechanistically scaled the sky
To presage Apollo's blue daybreak glows
In its concert score with the rooster cry
After leaving me with an hour's peace;
The very finest hour's peace I know
With moonbeams as gold as a magic fleece
Recharged whenever the solar flares blow
And scattershot photons from crater rims
Redistribute wealth from electrum sun
Like pieces of eight the night goddess skims
As solar doubloons by the Lunar ton...
Paying the way for the crow of the cock
And all the chimes in a sonneteer's talk!
