Only the stars know my scars
painful memories that are ours
we hide them with a smile
burdens carried mile after mile
unbent before God's trials
the stars to witness this holy mess
with our burdens we are truly blessed
finding faith in God's caress

You make some interesting points about suffering. It can shape us, for better or worse... we should try to find the good in the situation. It can also allow others to come alongside us and share the journey, grow our faith and grow as humans. This is spiritual and soothing.
