I hope you don't let my poetry get to you
I say some dumb shit sometimes not really directed at anyone
but I always worry people I care for will take it personal
when I'm just venting or making shit up...

Sweetie, it’s not to you. I pinky swear. I think you are a dear soul and don’t think that way, ok?

I don’t want to be one of these bourgeois poetry cunts… but the full stops in this is where it’s at. I love how they hammer home home each individual stanza, each individual thought. They almost come across like angry text messages and I freakin’ loved the direct nature of that.

That strong narrative in repeating “I understand” twice is powerful. Sometimes, we don’t need other people’s inputs. We are powerful in our intuition and our authority. People need to fkn realise that too sometimes.

Charge in the title really got to me too. So many images running through when I read it — electrical charge, a battering ram, dynamite — all of them add so much boom to the imagery.

Also laughing my tits off at the authors note. That genuinely feels like something I would say. 😂
