every year I look forward to the day
have a shirt and throwback pack
with the red, white, and blue
even stood by as year after year
things got worse
like a bad relationship
making excuses
holding on to what used to be
wondering if it was ever that great
this year I requested the day off of work
only to be denied
probably for the best
because today I just don't feel like celebrating
women have lost their rights
soon the homosexual community
then who knows
probably will keep going with this tyranny
till the only ones happy are old bigots
don't get me wrong
I don't hate America
but I have always seen it for it's possibilities
holding it accountable because I cared
now that dream seems more unrealistic
not to mention every family gathering
turns into a fight over petty grievances
and for some reason
the occasional racist opinion
so happy day of independence
to all the confederate flag waving
insurrection denying
blue lives matter excusing
"patriots"
hope you enjoy the day

Basically how I feel. Though both can have their good and bad moments. My main problem with the left is they can bitch but never get anything done. They think they can fight by reaching the souls of soulless creatures. Sometimes you have to fight dirty.

My 4th could of been better. I had to work and missed all the family stuff and fireworks. Also as the poem shows I been a bit disappointed with things lately. But still have to believe in better days.
