Mist Defying

summer morning's mystifying
moments we all share
waiting for the cool defying
warming of the air

dewdrops disappearing slowly
early morning mists
penetrated by a glow, the
Sun the Earth has kissed -

short shorts, halters, joggers running
blue sky, puffy clouds
school is out now having fun in
solitude as crowds

of people mingling on the beaches,
in parks and everywhere
wherever warming sunlight reaches
enjoying summer air -

mystifying, mist defying
everyone embraced
sitting, walking and too lying
starlight from deep space

infra red and radiating
reflecting from the ground
warmth, no longer are we waiting
summer's heat we've found -
