Chimney Rock Road

Chimney Rock Road

Even
a street
that stretches
its way across

from
coast
to coast
only

crosses
through
just so
many

efforts
to
create
those intersections

which
stripped away
her avenues
of escape:

her job
where
they
met,

her escapable
parents' home
where he picked
her up,

the bar
where
they
rendezvoused,

their hotel,
his apartment,
our rehearsal dinner,
our home

where
she
finally
confessed,

and where
by phone
he told her
of his new lover,

where
I held her
as she mourned
that loss,

the bar
where she
drank away
her troubles

on her 20 year way
to chasing
all those
dicks

that finally
fucked
her
over,

and the cell phone
she used
to play
world class solitaire.
