Medusa
She was cursed through no fault of her very own
She saw herself as ugly through and through, someone no one would ever want
Everyone that she loved turned their backs, she was cursed by the gods
She thought that she was doing everything right, but she was going against the odds
She retreated to hidden caverns deep within her heart and mind
For ages upon ages she suffered, transformed, and made herself hard to find
Round eyes took on an almond shape, with a slant and freezing stare
She moved as if slithering, and a pit full of vipers resembled her hair
Curls upon curls, each individualized, and crawling out of her skull over each other
Her heart and mind battling back and forth, forever eternal lovers
She did not know what to long for, she knew even less about need
Everything that she had ever believed had been crushed and taken with greed
But she feels safe within the caverns, only a fool would enter here
The carnage that she left strewn about the entrance couldn't be mistaken for a dare
So many had met their fate by trying to breach the sanctity of her caverns
Trying to move in with her, by opening inns and taverns
But the harshness of the Fates, and the gods ability to never forget
They taught her to never cry, also taught her to never forget
To never forget the heart and beauty that she possessed before the god's intervened
To feel absolutely no remorse spooning out their eyes and ripping out their spleens
There was no pity for those that dare to look upon her face
That dared to swim in the pools of her eyes instead of running in haste
That dared to whisper into the darkness of changing her destiny
Promising to rewind the clock to her last night with I IS ME
