Empyrean Nights
The Dipper scoops at the zenith moon
In its circumpolar ceiling,
But dutybound, as heaven's spoon...
To boreal only wheeling.
It cannot spin through austral skies;
Its tropical reach long forbad
So pole stars don't revolutionize
The sultry southern Olympiad
In the firmament ecliptic,
And coursing so forevermore
Through orbits apocalyptic
Those globes with no magnetic core
Or life sustaining atmospheres
Yet decorating heaven...when the weather clears!
In its circumpolar ceiling,
But dutybound, as heaven's spoon...
To boreal only wheeling.
It cannot spin through austral skies;
Its tropical reach long forbad
So pole stars don't revolutionize
The sultry southern Olympiad
In the firmament ecliptic,
And coursing so forevermore
Through orbits apocalyptic
Those globes with no magnetic core
Or life sustaining atmospheres
Yet decorating heaven...when the weather clears!
