when everything falls apart

I will never understand
how things can fall apart so fast

And I watch you go
wishing I could bend your fate
but it's not my fate to bend
or break

We all walk our own paths
for better or worse
and try and some peace
in this strange world
that doesn't always
give us a break

And more chances
would make all the difference
because we know we are better
than the demons that rule us
when the night gets dark and lonely
and our reflection isn't something
we can bear to face

I see your strength
and your weaknesses
and I can't fault you
with all your imperfections
and hopeless dreams
that mirror the things
I want deep down
but haven't found the voice
to say

So I hold you hard
and break as I let you go
wishing I could bend your fate
