there's a hug somewhere in your future

I've never met you
but I feel like I could know you
our worlds rise and fall
we love those  
who can't love us right  
we lose those  
we wish we could hold on to  
 
And we find ourselves alone
in our darkest moments  
praying for dawn
like the new day will be better
like it can hold us up  
when we can't find the strength  
to stand on our own  
under the weight of everything  
that's fallen apart
and turned to ash
in our once hopeful hands
 
I've never met you
but I feel like I could know you
wrap my arms around you
and feel your heartbeat
like it's my own
