Burning

Burning

If you tie me to your stake tonight
you need not make the knots so tight.
I have no desire to break free.
No desire to run away.

Leave me here beneath the moon above.
Listen as I vocalize my love
in such ways you have never
heard a lover say.

Yes, I will love you now and now is forever.
Test this and find death cannot sever.
Yours is always going to be
a special part of me.

Douse me now, set me aflame!
It matters not.
It is all the same.
I will burn for you
for all eternity.

There comes a time when there is no pain.
When the burning makes one go insane.
You watch me burn.
I can see you,
see you smile.

And I wonder as you watch and grin,
was it you or I? Did we both win?
I am still burning.
I guess I will be for a while.
