Things No One Tells You

What it feels like to burn alive
When you’re drowning inside
In a room full of tears
You built for yourself

How hard it is
To take another step forward
Knowing it means
He’s another step back

What it feels like to be denied
When all you want for him to know you tried
In a letter full of fears
You wrote yourself

How hard it is
To look at that face
And try to remember anything but
The anger, distrust, disgrace

What it feel like to be swallowed by the tide
When you’ve nowhere to hide
In a house full of mirrors
You created yourself

How hard it is
To steep in the memories
Fighting back the call him up
You instead retreat again

And all the years of asking
Are you sure that you’re ok
Will all come crashing down
Breaking
Everything in their wake
Shattering your hands that tried
Swallowing your throat that dried
Because you couldn’t stop screaming inside
Wondering
If he’s alright
Inside
