Image for the poem A Doll

A Doll's Dream

The empty of my life finds
fullness in the mystery of his touch
I slept here with Julie as a child and
my favorite doll still acts as
the sentinel of my bedroom.

The same lips that kissed Julie goodnight
now purse against my lover’s erection.
My lips feel warm and I smile,
thinking dolls must have dreams
for those who love them.

I glanced at Julie’s longing eyes and then
covered him with my mouth.
