Ocean
Written for "Imagery" competition
My ocean is an internal place,
full of the most unforgiving seas,
frantically reaching to grasp a lifeline
though there is no one here but me.
The sharks are swimming ever so close,
and I have expelled to them my crimson fluid
in the form of my private, primal prose,
and the end has become so lucid.
I'm swimming constantly, desperately seeking a shore,
but my body is wrecked from the fight.
With every stroke I cling to hope,
though there is nothing but ocean in sight.
