Two Specks of Life
We are two specks of life
on the surface of a planet
that is temporal at best.
As I lower myself onto my lover’s hardened desire,
I feel a trembling as if tectonic plates
are shifting in response to his intrusion.
Oh god, his glorious probing!
I stretch toward the ceiling in the throws of passion and
remember the empty sky.
I'm not sad at its emptiness.
All that quivers with pleasure between us,
and the memories of this night, will surely end
with the last breaths of these two specks of life.
