All That I Have Inside
This darn time machine
Takes me back to when I was eighteen
I keep pushing play to the sound track of early days
Sade’s voice is like a dream
The groove is in my bloodstream
While I close my eyes remembering that phase
But there is a part of me
Sad for the time lost in the odyssey
For all the sails torn in the storm of gale force winds
Eventually coming to understand
We must endure before finding land
As if the sea swallows up so many secrets and sins
I was a dreamer fantasizing
Always working but not realizing
That the words I wrote would one day have an effect
The kind of life I wanted to live
How much love my heart had to give
Would return to me more than I’d would ever project
