seek

  
in the dark I weep for understanding  
then shout when I find little answers
burning bright in the brittle truth  
mystery upon mystery I doubt  
 
I seek knowledge  
I find riddles of scorn instead  
in my mind reach the vast emptiness  
echoing through time are my questions raised in vain  
I will at present get no solid faith  
 
a keeper of visions speaks  
in time you will know  
but I worry that I will simply be sent on another journey  
blind to the unknown  
my questions tumbling one upon the other until they are smooth  
without the clarity to grasp what I was searching for in the first place  
 
I want to remain as such  
one who has gained wisdom and carry it to the next life  
so I don't stumble anew  
among all the questions shine an honest appraiser of fact  
not just a purveyor of myth  
 
I want to touch the eternal with my soul  
transcend light  
and finally, penetrate the darkness
