Waiting for “I Would”
I said I’ll wait
And that I will
But still each hour that passes
Each sunset and rise that goes by
Every moment, day, week, month and year
I witness
Nourishes waters and grows my wish
To know your words
To hear your voice
To gaze on fresher views of you
To breath your air and sense your touch.
Though some feelings fade with time
These desperate cravings to have more of you
Do not.
Do you understand
How you torture me with unfulfilled desire?
I’m addicted to you
And withdrawal is painful
Yet unlike detox programs
with the knowledge suffering will ease with time
The longer I’m without the sweet drug of you
The greater is my insobriety
If I am crazy
It is for the whole of you
Would you keep me in this torment?
Would you leave me in this purgatory?
Or worse, send me lower to the core of hell
Where your existence is but a burning memory?
At times, missing you is tinged with sweetness
Because hope makes it so
But in this moment
I question: is hope in vain?
Again I ask,
If we could, would you?
For me this never was a question,
But a vehement YES!
Did you know there was a time
I walked the street you may have walked that day?
Through the teeming throngs on that city sidewalk
In the transport stations, my eyes kept scanning
In the hopes I’d see your face
My room was but 2 city blocks away
I sometimes wonder, if you had known that I was there…
But that was in a different life…
I ask now, for the future:
Would you?
And that I will
But still each hour that passes
Each sunset and rise that goes by
Every moment, day, week, month and year
I witness
Nourishes waters and grows my wish
To know your words
To hear your voice
To gaze on fresher views of you
To breath your air and sense your touch.
Though some feelings fade with time
These desperate cravings to have more of you
Do not.
