Looming Canicular Days in Triple Digits

I suppose I chose this, these sweltering summer days and nights
Moved here for a variety of reasons ----
Smog-less skies flooded with powdery baby blues
& not a cloud to shade me from the sun
amidst the etiolated hues

Thinking aloud
Fixated now on the palm tree’s drooping limbs
never noticed before how here in Southern Arizona
their leaves glisten, so much so. . .
looking like Christmas tinsel
silver strands dripping into shiny dross

Day-dreams,
Petite-mal states of frozen hypnosis
often come with the summer heat
Am I looking forward to the sweat
caused by another scorching season
In the desert?

I suppose I am;
I mean, I moved here, didn’t I?
