With the twilight comes opium
and sins in the pewter tureen
with the ladle the Pied Piper
and poppies with a thousand eyes
on the dark side of the silhouette
with ashes in the grate
as death puts on its nightshirt
and the gate of Hell stands wide
with gaslights of cocaine
