Choose Your Eyes
Losing titles in this game
A sword thrust across my throat
To remind me where I reside
Following lesser men
So I stayed my hand
Gave praise when I had none
When his image overshadowed mine
Up there above all the stars
It ain’t an easy thing
To do the bowing and turning
A submission of character
Charlatans eat better
These walls get higher
And nothing is bleaker then this
So I wander under the trees
Aimless with purpose
And there you are
Dress billowing in the wind
Bony fingers fiddling with flowers
Pulled from the ground
I say nothing at all
But your smile is my spillway
I speak softly, apologies in advance
For I’m no one once again
You mutter sacrifice
Stay the loser in this dance
It’s a power trip but crack the whip
I’ll love you with or without
This won’t last forever
They’ll go hungry in their pennies
We’ll watch along barricades
As they eat each other
So choose your eyes, darling
A sword thrust across my throat
To remind me where I reside
Following lesser men
So I stayed my hand
Gave praise when I had none
When his image overshadowed mine
Up there above all the stars
It ain’t an easy thing
To do the bowing and turning
A submission of character
Charlatans eat better
These walls get higher
And nothing is bleaker then this
So I wander under the trees
Aimless with purpose
And there you are
Dress billowing in the wind
Bony fingers fiddling with flowers
Pulled from the ground
I say nothing at all
But your smile is my spillway
I speak softly, apologies in advance
For I’m no one once again
You mutter sacrifice
Stay the loser in this dance
It’s a power trip but crack the whip
I’ll love you with or without
This won’t last forever
They’ll go hungry in their pennies
We’ll watch along barricades
As they eat each other
So choose your eyes, darling
