Image for the poem September

September's gaze

in my September I am lonely for your sunshine
the dew makes me sleepy and for a time I forget
the passion of midnights spent in each others gaze,
locked in the throes of lust

I ache for those moments lost to time
when you were the man I amazed
and the lady you adored

I hurt in the cold of the emptiness left behind
once your ardor spoke wisdom to my flesh
and my glow was understood by a man

I fade into the darkness one day
and you couldn't follow
September's sorrow is now my soul's diary kept wet
not by lust but sadness, over the loss of a lover and a friend
