the brokenness of she
carve out the piece of me who aches with a fitful distrust of women
I long for the softness of she, just out of arms reach
her scent, her touch lingers in memories stirred but not spoken
the tenderness of woman meant for some, not me the forsaken
my gender is sacred but my heart remains broken
a lady in my secret gardens but something is missing
inside me is a sullen child left hungry for protection, rages
barren of soul, the life debt not paid, I wander
I needed her and was denied haven
a little girl lost
she is my demon
