The Last Time

she tells me I’m too high
then lays on my chest
listening to my heart beat
I say its ok, I'll be fine

I suggest another line
as I kiss her neck and
set up rails on my desk
she nods as clock chimes

this will be the last time
I tell her, I’ll quit, I promise
she gets up to pace and
asks me to pass the wine

then, I hear her sigh
how much is enough?
she asks, too much?
all I can tell her are lies

she implies I want to die
then gets up and rushes
to find her clothes while
saying to take this as a sign

I can’t stay on cloud nine
she cries, I’m so sorry
No, I reply, I am sorry.. Go!
before you change your mind
