I Dare You
Drunk text me
I dare you
Highlight my name and
Push the words through
But you can’t
You won’t
You never will
Stand along under lights
And feel the chill
Of the longing that you remember so
But it’s ok
To leave things unsaid
Maybe it’s better than
Running
Headfirst into rain instead
Waiting
For me to write you back in red
But I dare you
I still dare you
Like all the things that scare you so, I dare you
So I can finally get it all of off my chest
Layers of words that eat at my flesh
We can blame all this
On just one text
When you were drunk
And I was tired
So I’ll just sleep now
While you drive
Away
So far away
I’ll just whisper in my sleep
I dare you
I dare you
Highlight my name and
Push the words through
But you can’t
You won’t
You never will
Stand along under lights
And feel the chill
Of the longing that you remember so
But it’s ok
To leave things unsaid
Maybe it’s better than
Running
Headfirst into rain instead
Waiting
For me to write you back in red
But I dare you
I still dare you
Like all the things that scare you so, I dare you
So I can finally get it all of off my chest
Layers of words that eat at my flesh
We can blame all this
On just one text
When you were drunk
And I was tired
So I’ll just sleep now
While you drive
Away
So far away
I’ll just whisper in my sleep
I dare you
