Set Sail
I watch ships roll along the water- they come and go
They pass with faceless strangers
Where they are headed- I don’t know
There’s peace in not knowing,
What they have left behind,
Or the troubles they are leaving,
Just stowaways in their minds.
A piece of me sets sail with every passing ship.
That follows every star, that’s heard my every wish
And when they return from everywhere they’ve been,
I can come back tomorrow- to set sail with them again
They pass with faceless strangers
Where they are headed- I don’t know
There’s peace in not knowing,
What they have left behind,
Or the troubles they are leaving,
Just stowaways in their minds.
A piece of me sets sail with every passing ship.
That follows every star, that’s heard my every wish
And when they return from everywhere they’ve been,
I can come back tomorrow- to set sail with them again
