What is Truth

What weights the day
To dim the sun's rising
That day's not so bright
Scarce more than twilight
And deepens the night

Doubts weigh on frail hearts
Left too long to yearn for words
For touch, for worth
Who once seemed everything

It's a twilight world
Seeming incomplete
Though each know their part by rote
Parts and players
Alone yet together
Once the audience goes home
If ever there was one

Duty is duty
To oaths and promises
Meant to mean forever
To those who don't know what tomorrow will bring
Alone together
Is better than alone, alone
But is it life
Love

Perhaps

And love is but love
Known without word
In heart and mind
No crosses to bear
No doubts laced with fear

We grow, we change
We bear all trials
And work long hours
The world is a hammer
Steady beating
And at times I feel numb from the blows
Distant even to myself
Be my Phoenix rising

Give me place to breath
To find myself anew
And grow more deeply in love with you
Let me find new words
Rediscover touch
And meaning

There are meanings to everything
And pathways to nowhere
Don't be my every answer
Just be there
The best of my hopes
That I might still hope
Not duty bound
But bound by love

And breath
